The Scientist by Coldplay is one of my favourite songs, here are 2 cover versions done by Natasha Bedingfield and Avril Lavigne and then the original although acoustic version done by Coldplay – who do you reckon is best?

I think Coldplay wins hands down!
So about 2 weeks ago I wrote about the leakage on the Computicket website about The Killers concert coming to SA in December – since then the leak was removed and it was semi-confirmed that they were coming (about 90% sure)
Today Big Concerts tweeted this:
Now we just need to wait and hear the official annoucement on Wednesday morning, holding fingers for The Killers!
** UPDATED – CONCERT CONFIRMED!!!
It is now confirmed that THE KILLERS will play in SA at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg on December 4 and at the Val De Vie Estate in Cape Town on December 6. Tickets range from R269 to R526 and are available at Computicket.
“We are truly honoured to be associated with yet another talented award winning band such as The Killers on their first ever South African tour. We as a brand are truly committed to bring to our Consumers and all music lovers in South Africa the most authentic and memorable music experiences that could only be Heineken”, said Franco Maria Maggi, Marketing Manager of Heineken in South Africa.
Confirmed at News24
Here is the link on Computicket to buy, I’ve bought golden circle already.

Besides Usain Bolt’s storming run last night to smash his previous 200m record of 19.30, Usain Bolt quickly became a trending topic on Twitter and snapped up thousands and thousands of views on YouTube.
If you missed the race last night, watch it below – simply amazing, looks like kids trying to race an adult!

After his recent success in the Leadville 100, Stapleton the Team Manager for TeamRadioShack said that Lance loves his mountain bike riding and would like to do the Cape Epic stage race in South Africa…
Here is the statement:
“After his success at the Leadville 100, Lance is also looking to do some more mountain bike races including the Cape Epic stage race in South Africa. “He really loves it [MTB racing] and RadioShack is very supportive of him doing things outside like that,” said Stapleton.”
Hmmm, reckon that would stir quite a few people to get out and support the guys riding around Cape Town – I would definitely be there. Read more here from Cycling News.
Just heard this on 5fm that the awesome new song by Kasabian – Fire was filmed about 150km outside of Cape Town. The band wanted the look of an old small US town and apparently it was cheaper to come to SA to get that look.
This follows Snow Patrol also doing a music video here in Cape Town after they recently toured SA. Awesomeness for SA!
U2 played at Wembley Stadium last night to 88,000 people – this is a video a friend of mine took while they played the awesome song ‘With or without you’, enjoy!
I saw them at Twickenham back in 2005 and they are awesome live!
This is incredible and believable, I’ve know guys and girls to act stupidly like this when their is a break down in communication – the email string is hilarious, must watch video.
I would have loved to have seen her expression when the mom tells where her boyfriend is plus also the phonecall she would have got when he got back from Europe – don’t know how that conversation would start, maybe just with ‘WTF!’
So today Computicket and some journalists on Twitter let slip that The Killers were scheduled to play in Cape Town the 9th December (Golden Circle R526)
Computicket even had a page up on their site for the event and stated that tickets will go on sale on the 14th, see pic below – this has since been taken down pretty quickly. View bigger image of Computicket here
After this on Twitter MyNews24 did some research and phoned Computicket who said that it was scheduled but just had some details to iron out…,
I think its more likely that they just want to have their proper press release on the 14th August when they start selling tickets! I’m definitely going to be buying Golden Circle and see them for my third time, check out the video below I took of their opening scene in their 2007 concert.
So this afternoon, wait for it, yes Twitter suffered an outage for 2 or more hours due to a DDOS attach on it which meant it was rather a rude awakening for the techies at Twitter in the States.
While this all was happening I was driving peacefully out to Canal Walk for a meeting when I almost had an accident! And if you take a look at the pic alongside you’ll see why, surely this can’t be legal!! I wonder how many accidents there will be there while that poster is up – dam good poster though.

As while driving past I was only moving at a snails pace I had plenty of time to gasp and enjoy the view as I drove by and even fish my cellphone out and snap the picture, I then thought ‘hey, lets post it on Twitter!’ but alas the site was down and even still TwitPic is down so enjoy here on my stable blog.
Facebook experienced the same attack today which makes it a bit suspicious! Wonder if its Rupert and his News buddies trying to get back at the social stream?

Now this is stuff of the future I’ve been waiting for, wow – would def beat the crazy traffic into work in the mornings though don’t know what would happen when it storms/rains etc…
Anyway, you’ll see my point when you watch the video. This has been invented by a Kiwi and its not quite ready for market yet as they are still testing it but dam it would be fun. Image the sports you could play, the views you’d see and the Mile High Club would take a new meaning!
Here is some info from the Aussie news site:
The Martin Jetpack – literally a personal strap-on aircraft – is a two-litre jet-powered engine designed to soar across the skies at 100km/h at heights of up to 50 metres.
Inventor Glenn Martin dreams of the day commuters will hop into the contraption to fly to work, missing rush hour traffic.
But for now, the first public flight program will be limited to low and slow flying in a controlled area while the Christchurch-based company road tests the safety and limits of the engine.
“Just because we have to stay under 10 metres high and under 10km/h doesn’t mean it won’t be an incredibly exciting experience,” Martin Aircraft Company chief executive Richard Lauder said.
“It will still be flying as it’s never been done before, just in the confines of a rugby field-type space.”
