1 Comments Anti-Virus SERPS Competition

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 16 Oct 2009 , in the Social Media category

So AVG have a Anti-Virus SEO competition running here in South Africa with the winner able to win R5,000! Not bad a I say plus AVG will get some nice link backs to their site and in turn increase their own page rank.

I myself use AVG Anti-virus but mind you I use the ‘free’ edition and not the paid for version and for those of you that look the free version can be very tricky to find and download… AVG really make the ‘free’ links the hardest to see and try push their paid for version as much as they can.

I find this pretty irritating but AVG so far has kept my PC clean, lets hope that continues otherwise I’ll try the new Microsoft anti-virus free program.

0 Comments The JK Wedding Dance Phenomenon (WOW)

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 29 Jul 2009 , in the Social Media category

JK Wedding Dance

This is the 2nd wedding video I’ve seen from the States that is brilliant and ballsy, if I was the groom or one of the bestmen I might have had one or two beers before hand to help me through the routine – but its very good! And well done to them, it even got Jill Peterson and Kevin Heinz interviewed on the Today show in the States. It has been viewed 12million times already in a pretty short amount of time, take a look!

0 Comments Who’s this competing against Virgin Active, another gym or not?

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 16 Jul 2009 , in the Social Media category

In America and elsewhere where allowed companies can run adverts and in the adverts openly mock, ridicule or downgrade their competition by naming and shaming. In South Africa this is not the case, as far as I am aware!

Now to my shock and horror this has slipped through on Facebook Advertising and I know that Facebook won’t have any problem with it as it doesn’t go against any of their T&C’s etc but I’m sure its now allowed in South Africa.

Gym for lessSo I clicked through to GymForLess.co.za (not via the Facebook advert as didn’t Zuckerberg to earn some more bucks) to check it out. And basically its not really another gym competing against VirginActive but rather a Financial Services company by the name of True2Life.

Now they are just trying to earn commission on contracts they send through to Discovery Health Insurance as once you sign up there and then get there extra Vitality package you get free or actually gym at R80. The contract says R400pm for gym but in all if you get the Discovery Health Insurance and Vitality package you’ll be paying at least R800 a month, so you double your monthly payment but get health insurance.

I’m not sure what deal Discovery has with Virgin Active which allows for the discounted membership fees but I’m sure that there are so many members who joined Discovery just so they could get the ‘free’ gym but then never actually really use it. I’m one of them, need to use it more!

So is this advert misleading? In away its not but it is done via another Finacial Services company and not direct.

0 Comments New Zealand Air bare all in video (almost)

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 08 Jul 2009 , in the Social Media category

Well today seems fitting to post this as I flew up to Joburg for meetings and busy in the airport waiting to fly back. Though I must say Kulula were pretty innovative with their safety message before the flight and throughout the flight tried to make jokes and just keep it light hearted. The attendant was very good, but these New Zealand girls are also pretty good and its just one safety video you might want to watch and the whole thing at that!

1 Comments Lance Armstrong is Driven For You! Tour de France 2009

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 05 Jul 2009 , in the Social Media category

An amazing Nike advert with Lance Armstrong about why he’s back on his bike and racing the Tour de France 2009 – plus in the first stage yesterday it was a 15.5km time trial and he came 10th overall…. bloody good for a 37 year old who last raced and won the Tour in 2005! Lets hope he keeps on improving though his team mate Contador and Kloden are looking very good!

0 Comments Nando’s up to its tricks in AUS with Bruno spoof!

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 03 Jul 2009 , in the Social Media category

Absolutely brilliant! I wish we got proper premiers here just for this sort of stuff to happen, imagine Zuma was supposed to give a speech at a rally and the puppet version rocks up advertising Nandos!!?

Wonder if they would get sued!

Anyway, take a look at the video below – Nando’s in Australia organised a Bruno look a like to arrive in a limo 30min before the ‘real’ Bruno was supposed to get there. He jumps out with a bunch of models and starts shouting at the crowds while the hot girl models throw ‘peri-peri’ sauce all over themselves – raunchy indeed!

This was a bit of a slap in the face humour after last months incident when Bruno made a flying appearance at the MTN Movie Awards and landed on Eminem… apparently that was also rehearsed. Read here.

0 Comments A great Castle viral advert

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 21 May 2009 , in the Social Media category

I love viral adverts that get sent around via email between friends and work colleagues and here is one that has come into my inbox a second time, the first time was last year or sometime ago but I still remember it. Take a look and see what you think?

Those Mastercard adverts in my eyes were one of the best viral campaigns and I bet that the marketing company didn’t even think that it would take off as well as it did virally.

1 Comments Susan Boyle is this weeks buzz word

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 18 Apr 2009 , in the Viral marketing category

Wow, Britain’s Got Talent seems to work well with You Tube followers and this week proved no exception. On Monday morning most of us would have never ever heard of her - a 47 year old from Scotland who has never been kissed but by Tuesday most of us who frequent the online world reguarly would have.

Simon and the other judges didn’t seem to give her much chance when she came on the stage and did a little jiggle of her hips, even the crowd were rolling their eyes but then she started to sing ‘I Dreamed a dream’ from the musical Les Miserables and wow she almost immediatly got a standing ovation. This was a voice you would hear at musicals not from some old lady… Even Simon had a big unbelieving grin on his face!

Since Monday the video has been viewed 47million times and is on its way to becoming the fastest virally spread video, see graph here:

You Tube seems to have disabled the ability to embed the video so click here to view it. Graph courtesy from Mashable.com

The last big act that spread virally was from Paul when he sung Nessun Dorma, click here.
