0 Comments New Zealand Air bare all in video (almost)

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 08 Jul 2009 , in the Social Media category

Well today seems fitting to post this as I flew up to Joburg for meetings and busy in the airport waiting to fly back. Though I must say Kulula were pretty innovative with their safety message before the flight and throughout the flight tried to make jokes and just keep it light hearted. The attendant was very good, but these New Zealand girls are also pretty good and its just one safety video you might want to watch and the whole thing at that!

1 Comments Lance Armstrong is Driven For You! Tour de France 2009

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 05 Jul 2009 , in the Social Media category

An amazing Nike advert with Lance Armstrong about why he’s back on his bike and racing the Tour de France 2009 – plus in the first stage yesterday it was a 15.5km time trial and he came 10th overall…. bloody good for a 37 year old who last raced and won the Tour in 2005! Lets hope he keeps on improving though his team mate Contador and Kloden are looking very good!

0 Comments Nando’s up to its tricks in AUS with Bruno spoof!

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 03 Jul 2009 , in the Social Media category

Absolutely brilliant! I wish we got proper premiers here just for this sort of stuff to happen, imagine Zuma was supposed to give a speech at a rally and the puppet version rocks up advertising Nandos!!?

Wonder if they would get sued!

Anyway, take a look at the video below – Nando’s in Australia organised a Bruno look a like to arrive in a limo 30min before the ‘real’ Bruno was supposed to get there. He jumps out with a bunch of models and starts shouting at the crowds while the hot girl models throw ‘peri-peri’ sauce all over themselves – raunchy indeed!

This was a bit of a slap in the face humour after last months incident when Bruno made a flying appearance at the MTN Movie Awards and landed on Eminem… apparently that was also rehearsed. Read here.

0 Comments A great Castle viral advert

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 21 May 2009 , in the Social Media category

I love viral adverts that get sent around via email between friends and work colleagues and here is one that has come into my inbox a second time, the first time was last year or sometime ago but I still remember it. Take a look and see what you think?

Those Mastercard adverts in my eyes were one of the best viral campaigns and I bet that the marketing company didn’t even think that it would take off as well as it did virally.

1 Comments Susan Boyle is this weeks buzz word

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 18 Apr 2009 , in the Viral marketing category

Wow, Britain’s Got Talent seems to work well with You Tube followers and this week proved no exception. On Monday morning most of us would have never ever heard of her - a 47 year old from Scotland who has never been kissed but by Tuesday most of us who frequent the online world reguarly would have.

Simon and the other judges didn’t seem to give her much chance when she came on the stage and did a little jiggle of her hips, even the crowd were rolling their eyes but then she started to sing ‘I Dreamed a dream’ from the musical Les Miserables and wow she almost immediatly got a standing ovation. This was a voice you would hear at musicals not from some old lady… Even Simon had a big unbelieving grin on his face!

Since Monday the video has been viewed 47million times and is on its way to becoming the fastest virally spread video, see graph here:

You Tube seems to have disabled the ability to embed the video so click here to view it. Graph courtesy from Mashable.com

The last big act that spread virally was from Paul when he sung Nessun Dorma, click here.

0 Comments I am a ‘Hash One’ Winner courtesy of ‘From The Couch’

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 31 Mar 2009 , in the Tech News category

Courtesy of ‘From The Couch‘ and their recent Hash One competition I won myself a nice little theme and all I had to do was write a little comment on their blog.

Now that is quite nice, think I’m going to use it for when I launch www.danbaileyuk.com

Thanks To Marc and David!

0 Comments The coolest guy on the internet

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 03 Feb 2009 , in the Viral marketing category

So, recently on a couple of websites there is a competition going around to see who can get the highest placed position in Google’s organic search results for the wording ‘The coolest guy on the internet’ – the guys at the MIH group started it with Justin Hartman writing the first blog. He posted a random video of this ‘cool guy’, here is my random video of my vote for the coolest guy – though with over 112million views I think he comes in pretty close to the top for the coolest guy on the internet!

For me this was also the first video I watched on YouTube… was definitely one of the first videos that I got sent which spread virally.

0 Comments Viral Marketing on Blogs

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 11 Sep 2008 , in the Viral marketing category

In my perusing of the Internet I have come across a number of blogs been hijacked by a company trying to market itself. This hijacking is voluntary as the blogger normally has the following agenda:

  • they could get entered into a competition
  • readers could generate some affiliate sales for them
  • they could have directly received something in the post
  • or they could have been paid to write an ‘editorial’ on the company

Now from what I see if
    a) a blogger comments on a company to get entered into a competition or to generate some sales they are generally in the beginning stages of blogging and just appreciate the response and recognition (or they just enjoy helping a company now and then and like seeing what response their blog causes)

    b) a blogger receives something in the post then their blog is definitely more recognised and official as a blog that matters (recent example on the Ideate blog
(I’m not saying Andrew’s blog is or isn’t on the ‘A-List’ now) This is good if the gift is inline with the blog, not sure Andrew would have enjoyed receiving a pretty table cloth from Virgin instead of the flash disk…

    c) a blogger gets paid and writes an editorial – I know quite a few people who do this and get away with it, look at gaming review sites. The question comes in when the blogger reports back negatively on the company (this couldn’t really happen if the blogger was getting paid as there would be no point for the company to see it through)

So the trick is to do it and do it well. If you are going to get paid for writing an article then great just make sure its what your readers want to read about. If you are entering a competition (Berocca are running one in the UK now, example on Grant’s blog)

Grant just pointed out the fact thay Berocca are running a promotion aimed at bloggers which was in line with content on his blog.

So be careful your blog doesn’t become a nasty advert plastered site that is terrible to look at and read. The best way is for the company to create/establish an online community/fan base

0 Comments Christian the lion dominates YouTube

Article written by the brilliant danbaileyuk on the 28 Aug 2008 , in the Viral marketing category

And I can see why… What amazing footage, take a look.

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRsDrqTBq6Y&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&fs=1]

Brief run down these two chaps (John Rendall and Anthony Bourke) were shopping in Harolds where they found a lion cub for sale (1959). In those days you were somehow allowed to sell exotic animals like that. But the lion cub was enclosed in a tiny cage and they took pity on the animal and bought it.

They then started to raise the animal in their flat and take it to their local church to exercise in the grounds there, quite quickly they realised they wouldn’t be able to keep it too long in London (even pictures of them driving in a convertable with the lion in the back seat) and that they would need to take it back to Africa.

They did this and some years later went to visit Christian, the footage is of the reunion. So far the footage has received over 10million views, a must watch!
